Artful and sexy

We are familiar these kinds of ambiguous images of young people from the fashion spreads. Diana Scheunemann imbues them with a wonderful raw, playful and immediate quality.
Eschewing the cliches of erotica and the glossiness of commercial photography, Scheunemann shows that it is possible to represent a complex and compelling view of people and the ways they relate.
I don't know how staged these images are, but they remain joyfully open to the possibilities and realities of our complex selves.
