"This book is what every mom has been waiting for—the week-by-week format makes it all so simple."  —Daily Mirror

"This is a lifesaver for every new mom."  —Grazia

"A brilliant handbook for new moms. Small babies take up lots of time, particularly in the first six months, so the bite-sized approach to topics such as crying, feeding, sleeping, and weaning is perfect for helping moms through all the challenges of the early days and inspiring them to feel confident."  —Elaine Griffiths, editor, Prima Baby

Promotes neglect, would not recommend.
By Charlotte Cooper
Some of the tips in this book are horrendous! Telling a mother to leave her baby to scream until they are sick! As a first time mum I found this really difficult to read, luckily I have a fantastic support system around me to tell me that is neglect and most certainly not the thing to do with a baby! Some parts of the book are helpful, but that bit shocked me to the core and I really hope no mums take this as gospel.

Disgusting
By Liz Bertorelli
HORRIBLE book as far as the cry-it-out advice is concerned. The smallest amount of research into the subject will give evidence-based results proving that leaving a child to cry is HARMFUL. It damages the brain and does not help a baby learn to "self soothe" (look it up for yourself, self-soothing is not even a real thing). Babies are meant to be held by their moms. Babies cry because they need something, not because they are trying to manipulate! Leaving a baby alone to cry in its bed (so hard that it vomits?!?!? This is what the book recommends) and then changing the sheets without giving your baby attention or picking him up is ABUSE as far as I'm concerned. This is exactly what is wrong with the world today. Don't support this disgusting "advice." Find a different parenting book. This one blows.

Somewhat useless
By Prime
I bought this book to help me follow the progress of my first born as he grew and changed. What I found was that this book was kind of snooty and not helpful. Comments like "your baby should be sleeping through the night at this point" do nothing to help a new parent whose baby is NOT sleeping through the night; saying "your baby should be enjoying bath time now" is pointless, especially if your baby is NOT enjoying bath time! After a while (as you can probably tell), this book irritated me. There was little advice about what to do when your baby didn't match up with their predictions, and what advice was offered was very vague. I also disagree with their timeline of when to do things like introduce solids, move the baby to the crib (as opposed to a bassinet/cradle in your room), etc. i found The Wonder Weeks to be more of what I was looking for.
