Great Book, Typo problems.

Five stars for Ricardo Iznaola and the content he has created here. I'm a huge fan of everything that Iznaola has written. I only wish I could get some lessons with him.

Mel Bay, however, gets 0 stars for their editorial work. There are numerous typos in the section on Right Hand Framing; I've verified 3 with the author. I'm particularly harsh with Mel Bay here because I actually purchased this product using a coupon they gave me for reporting typos in another product of theirs. They desperately need to improve their editorial process.

Good for Advanced player and Teacher

This book explains physiology of Classical Guitar playing with medical background so it's very revealing for any serious CG guitar player. The description of human anatomy needs some effort to understand, the medical nomenclature was very difficult for those who never have a biology background.

The 'technical' imperfection on this book is in nail photo (Photo 1-2) on p.55. Ricardo's nail captured out of focus, so it's difficult to see the explanation given by that photo. Other thing was fine.

I thought it's good for advanced player and teacher but not for beginner.

A recent trend in Hollywood biographies is to abandon the tabloid style in favor of a more scholarly approach. These two new biographies on Clark Gable follow this trend. Harris (Gable and Lombard) has produced a thoroughly researched account of Gable, complete with facts on the writers, producers, studios, costars, and Gable's many lovers. The biography also offers a history of how Hollywood moguls controlled every aspect of a star's creation. The most appealing chapters are on the Gable-Lombard romance, which tragically ended when Lombard perished in a plane crash. Spicer, who teaches professional writing at Victoria University, Australia, offers a take on Gable that is close to Harris's in style and content, sometimes even using the same quotes and description of events. Factual inconsistencies do exist e.g., Harris states that Gable's best friend, Eddie Mannix, called him with the news of Lombard's death, while Spicer has the call coming from Gable's publicist, Larry Barbier. But both bios follow the same format and progression of Gable's life and career, and both offer new information not found in what are at least 15 previous biographies on Gable, one of the best being Lyn Tornabene's 1976 Long Live the King. There are, however, differences between the two books. Harris used his previous research, which includes mostly firsthand accounts from Gable's associates, while Spicer relied heavily on secondary sources that include newspaper and magazine articles as well as Harris's Gable and Lombard. Harris's filmography is more detailed, and he includes an eight-page photo spread, while Spicer's book features photos throughout. Finally, Harris's style is crisper, faster paced, and more interesting; Spicer adds too many little details and becomes too wordy. Best of all Gable biographies

In my research for Warm and Wonderful Stepmothers of Famous People (also carried by amazon.com), I looked through virtually all Gable biographies, including the one by Harris. This is the best by far. It has everything but is not gossipy, is very well-written--I found myself reading much more of it than my needs required. Chrystopher Spicer liked his subject yet was thorough and objective--all necessary for a good biography, and with all the biographies I've used in research for my books, I should know.

Well Written and Objective

This is a impressively researched and objectively written biography. Spicer nicely balances information about Gable's personal and professional life without being gossipy or dragging the text down with lengthy plot synopsis of films. I suspect the high price of the book may have turned some readers off, which is unfortunate. For anyone wanting to know more about the King of Hollywood, this book is absolutely worth reading.

A man's man . . . A Woman's Man

I really never was much of Clark Gable fan. Oh yeah, we all knew he was just about the biggest Hollywood star of his time, and then some. Why? He made great movies, attracted movie goers, and made them enjoy them, not to mention the huge revenues he brought to the studios. Gable was not the best actor I ever saw, but he was always entertaining and believable. He could do it all, from tragic drama to hilarious comedy, and his movies proved it. I was visiting some close friends one weekend and saw this book in their shelf. During a down time one evening, I began to thumb through it. I found myself up until all hours reading it. Spicer nails his biography without tossing in all the gussied up words of a publicist. It's pretty much all fact, especially in his personal life. Again, there's no gossip, rumors or false trash. Clark Gable was a real American Patriot, a hero who joined the military in time of need and did his part along with others in Hollywood. His home life was private, but some of his private moments are worded in this book. I tried to talk my friend into giving it to me, but no such luck, so, I purchased it myself and it's a keeper. There's so much more goodness to Clark Gable than the public knows. If you like Clark Gable, you need this book in your library.

From my clinic to yours

I didn't find this book as useful as I would have liked. A lot of the images are not of patients in standard treatment positions and they seem to have not focused on some of the important radiation structures of interest.

The Yankee sharpshooter turned out to be a lousy judge of character. He had three officers in his sights, a captain and two lieutenants. If he killed the right one, the Union Army’s victory at the Battle of Martin’s Hill would be guaranteed. So he made his choice and killed the Rebel cavalry’s commanding officer, Captain von Hartz.
Big mistake.
He should have concentrated on the small, insignificant-looking first lieutenant instead. Because the death of Captain von Hertz put Dusty Fog in command of the Texas Light Cavalry’s hard-riding, harder-hitting Company ‘C’. And with Dusty at their head, there was going to be hell to pay for the Bluebellies.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John Thomas Edson was born at Worksop, Nottinghamshire, on February 17 1928, the son of a miner who was killed in an accident when John was nine. He left Shirebrook Selective Central School at 14 to work in a stone quarry and joined the Army four years later.

As a sergeant in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Edson served in Kenya during the Emergency, on one occasion killing five Mau Mau on patrol. He started writing in Hong Kong, and when he won a large cash prize in a tombola he invested in a typewriter.

On coming out of the Army after 12 years with a wife and children to support, Edson learned his craft while running a fish-and-chip shop and working on the production line at a local pet food factory. His efforts paid off when Trail Boss (1961) won second prize in a competition with a promise of publication and an outright payment of �50.

The publishers offered �25 more for each subsequent book, and with the addition of earnings from serial-writing for the comic Victor, Edson was able to settle down to professional authorship. When the comic's owners decided that nobody read cowboy stories any more, he was forced to get a job as a postman (the job had the by-product of enabling him to lose six stone in weight from his original 18).

Edson's prospects improved when Corgi Books took over his publisher, encouraged him to produce seven books a year and promised him royalties for the first time. In 1974 he made his first visit to the United States, to which he was to return regularly in search of reference books. He declared that he had no desire to live in the Wild West, adding: "I've never even been on a horse. I've seen those things, and they look highly dangerous at both ends and bloody uncomfortable in the middle. My only contact was to shoot them for dog meat."

His heroes were often based on his favourite film stars, so that Dusty Fog resembled Audie Murphy, and the Ysabel Kid was an amalgam of Elvis Presley in Flaming Star and Jack Buetel in The Outlaw.

Before becoming a recluse in his last years, JT's favourite boast was that Melton Mowbray was famous for three things: "The pie, Stilton cheese and myself but not necessarily in that order."

you will need to read this book first before Rushed to Destiny. I happened to read Rush to Destiny first it had me all messed up I thought I was reading the same book because a lot of it ties together. Very good read enjoyed it

This continues to be one of my favorite books on personality

This continues to be one of my favorite books on personality. It lays the groundwork for other work, including Keirsey's infamous temperament sorter (another highly recommended read). These books can be very helpful in cultivating an appreciation for other types of people as well as smoothing interactions with them as a result of understanding their point of view.

Amazing book for learning personality types!

I was initially interested in this book because I was interested in learning the theory behind the MBTI Personality Indicator. This book, written by the creator of the Myers-Briggs Indicator, was exellent in explaining the theory behind it. It gives descriptions of each type, as well as other interesting studies that were done in education, career, and relationships and how they correlated with personality type. I'm a great believer of this personality typing, and really believe that this book helps greatly in understanding people and seeing thier strengths as well as understanding thier weaknesses and how to deal with them effectively. This book will help you in all aspects of your life, your personal relationships, family relationships, co-workers, school, and every part of your life that deals with people. It will greatly enlighten your understanding of the sources of conflict and how to be able to harmonize, even with essential differences. This book is also engaging and I was stuck all the way through. She writes to keep you interested, and it is wonderful. I would recommend this book to anyone!

About the Author
Sherrie Walker is a native Clevelander and is recognized throughout the Ohio area for showcasing another form of her writing skills, as playwright, along with partner Kecia Green. Both possessing a passion for writing, Sherrie and Kecia have been writing collaboratively for the past ten years. FIRST OF ALL ID LIKE TO SAY I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK IT READ LIKE A MOVIE TO ME. THREE YOUNG LADIES WHO ARE BROUGHT TOGETHER BY TRADGEDY BECOME EACH OTHERS SUPPORT SYSTEM,SISTERS,FAMILY. ELISE,LAKIESHA,AND APARIS. WITH ELISE WHO KEEPS IT GANGSTA AT ALL TIMES RUNNING THE FAMILY HOW CAN THEY NOT ACHIEVE WHAT THE FAMILY HAS SET OUT TO DO. I WONT GO INTO DETAIL ABOUT IT BUT IN ALL WARS THERE ARE CASUALTIES, QUESTION IS WILL THE FAMILY PULL THROUGH? YOUR GONNA HAVE TO COP IT TO FIND OUT CAUSE IM NOT TELLING.

This was by far the best book I've read in a long time. Ms. Walker put it down!!! I don't want to say too much about what happens in the book but Elise was not to be played with. Great Read!!!!

Great NCLEX Review resource

These flash cards were a real life saver; I seriously doubt if I would have passed the NCLEX-RN exam if I hadn't purchased them. Don't get me wrong; I did well in nursing school and kept up with my review, but the NCLEX RN is a very difficult test and test taking is not my strong suit. Flash cards are great because you can carry a few with you at all times and take advantage of even short time bursts for NCLEX review. 2011 is starting off to be a great year for me, because I no longer have to worry about passing the NCLEX, and much of that is due to getting this box of flash cards. Anyone who gets these cards and actually puts them to regular use will have a tremendous advantage on test day.

I ordered the flash cards a few weeks before my boards. I found it to be a very helpfull study tool. It was easy to bring the cards with me so I could study when ever i had a chance.
