Give this book a try-You'll be glad you did!

This book was very timely because it is now the fall and my garden won't have many more weeks of growth before winter sets in. It was to the point, easy to understand, easy to implement--he's covered everything! He also has taught this as a course,so it has been refined along the way.
I'm going to do this this fall because I can't stand the thought of going back to supermarket greens after eating from my organic garden. Even if you have never grown anything to eat before, get the book and follow it to the letter( easy). You'll be glad you did! JD-Phila,Pa.

I'm sprouting like a pro!

Thanks to this book I have been filling my salad plate with home grown soil sprouts. I am not a green thumb in any way but I've grown several batches of beautiful sprouts simply by following the directions in this book. The pictures add so much to the instructions.

Great guide to growing salad sprouts

I really appreciate this straightforward guide to growing your own salad green sprouts. I have wanted to grow salad greens indoors for quite a while but I didn't want to deal with the trouble of having to set up lights and the long wait from seed to salad. I find the salad green sprouts to be the perfect fit for what I want because they grow quickly with only the light from a window. They taste delicious and are much easier to grow indoors than salad greens.

This book does a great job of going over all the details of growing indoor salad sprouts as well as describing what seed varieties are best for sprouts. It's totally worth buying if you like the idea of growing your own sprouts! I spend about 10-15 min a day preparing my salad green sprouts (you plant new pans every day so you have a daily supply), and it's really as easy as the book describes.

NOT POSTCARDS

Despite being advertised as a postcard book, these are not postcards. They are too small for the standard postcard size and would cost extra to mail, plus there is not enough room on the back of the card for an address and message. They are nice quality cards, however, with a lovely silver edging to them. I will be placing them inside mail with envelopes now, but am disappointed I cannot send them as postcards, since that was the purpose for which I bought them.

About the Author
Sharol Tilgner is a licensed naturopathic physician in Eugene, Oregon. She graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1990. However her history as an herbalist goes back farther than that. She started her herbal career in 1979. She founded and is currently the president of Wise Woman Herbals, Inc., a 12 year old company which supplies more than 300 herbal products to health care practitioners. Dr. Tilgner was the Director of the Portland Naturopathic Clinic pharmacy for more than two years. She spent three years molding an old cattle ranch into an organic herb farm that is now called Shalimar Gardens. She is currently molding a second farm into a herbal teaching site. She is the editor of Herbal Transitions, associate editor of Medical Herbalism and has produced 2 herbal videos entitled Edible and Medicinal Herbs, Volume 1, and Edible and Medicinal Herbs, Volume II". Dr. Tilgner is a nationally known speaker who lectures at medical colleges and conferences across the United States. She also promotes and sponsors The Pacific NW Herbal Symposium each spring. Her most recent contribution to the herbal world is her new book called Herbal Medicine From the Heart of the Earth.

A lovely book

I was very pleased when I received this book. It has a very good breath of information on herbs within it.

A brief chapter on the medicinal properties and actions of herbs, with multiple examples of herbs in each category, is followed by a good materia medica. It only covers 160-170 herbs, and so is not the most comprehensive one available, but each entry is a very good mix of modern medical and traditional herbal details: the part(s) used, taste/smell, "tendencies" (e.g. cooling/drying), dosage, mental picture and specific indications.

There are good size sections on herbal formulae for different conditions (mentioning both appropriate adjunct therapies and any cautions that should be observed) and also on how to make different herbal preparations. There are even a few small chapters on dosages.

All in all, a very good buy !

This book is very helpful if you are into using herbs and tinctures for treatment. It's actually the book that my naturopath uses, now I just skip the expensive doctor visit and check my book.

Herbal Medicine from the Heart of the Earth

As a busy naturopathic physician who sees a wide range of patients, I found Dr. Tilgner's book invaluable in researching effective formulas.
Combining both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspectives, Herbal Medicine will be useful to traditional herbalists as well as TCM practitioners.
This would be a primary reference book for conventional medical offices who seek to work with their patients using natural therapies.
But Herbal Medicine is not just for the professional. Dr. Tilgner's straight-forward writing style makes the book easy to use for those new to herbal remedies. Instructions on how and when to take, and not take, the herbs are clear and meet high standards for safe use.
The directions for concocting and using formulas are concise. And I know from using them in my practice, the formulas are extremely effective.
The section on making tinctures, salves, teas and capsules provides clear instructions and information for either creating your own remedies at home, or working in an herbal pharmacy.
If you have to get one book on herbal medicine, this is it! No one who uses natural medicine should be without Herbal Medicine from the Heart of the Earth.

Solid intro for greenscreening

I'm a video producer who has used Greenscreen technology for years, but found some techniques to improve my shots in this manual. Has good information on video cameras and background setup. The Adobe "On Location" and "Ultra" software mentioned in this book offer good results. "Ultra" is especially helpful in creating clean keys when shooting with low-end professional cameras. I also used input from this book to evaluate and buy a new greenscreen background with support stands. All in all, a useful book.

This book is easy to read even my english is not good.i come form china and i can read chapter 11 - 19 really clear. really easy to understand and this book is for any level you are.

chapter 1-10 seems like for the Camera man,talking about the easy way to creat a green screen shot.chapter11-19 about post working..

even i have done the Compositing work for 5 years i still find some great stuff in this book.thx to michele and jeremy.

BTW,,,if you are a Mac user,and you using final cut pro or motion .After effects you should get this book!

Typical Tactical Barbell greatness, Awesome programming.

Although a little more involved then the previous TB ( A beginner might be better served with following one of the original TB strength routines for a bit) It is an excellent program with a 2-in-1 emphasis on Strength/Conditioning.

Some suggestions: #1:Make this in a physical copy, soft cover. Would make it easier to flip through and keep track of. #2:Make the conditioning and HIC sessions in a more straight forward progressive manner. For example: Have the HIC sessions include it's own specific exercises with rep progression instead of "Borrowing" the push ups and mountain climbers from the normal cardio days.

Anyway, another homerun from K.Black!
