This is devastating, but eventually he finds a new place that everyone can be happy with. This is an hilarious book by Beverly Cleary (Morrow, 1973), told from the cat's point of view, and Neil Patrick Harris does a slam-bang job of presenting it. He provides voices for each character but, more importantly, he reads the story with humor and expression, bringing it to life. Listeners feel a kinship with Socks and root for his success, even while acknowledging his foibles. Both children and adults with roar with laughter at Sock's antics and cringe at his misdeeds. This is a great production that deserves to be enjoyed by a wide audience.

Everyone should read this book!

The book starts with 20 something Varun who's freshly out of engineering and unemployed. And Varun takes you through his journey to being the Co-founder of a Million Dollar Company. But the journey is not an easy one. One of the biggest obstacles in his path is the famed `Anu Aunty' , The typical nosy Indian aunt. And then there are the usual incidents in every college graduates life, late nights, incidents with cops, stalking your crush on facebook and much more. The book is in simple English and is narrated so effortlessly it's like a friend telling you the story of his life. And there are times when you think to yourself, damn all this has happened to me too! The book encapsulates todays generation and shows the older generations that we're just not all fun and enjoyment and when we put our minds to something we can truly own this world.

A truly entertaining book filled with all the traditional Indian and Bangalore words like `Enthu-cutlet' and `Putting Kai'.

But entertainment aside, the book is one of the most inspiring books I've read and Varun has done his best to motivate & inspire anyone reading the book to follow their dreams and never give up. Something i firmly believe in, and being an entrepreneur myself there's so much i could relate to n the book and id recommend it to anyone who has their own thing going or is planning to start up.
Varuns even taken the trouble to add a post script with do and don'ts for wannabe entrepreneurs.
Closing verdict is that this book it truly a must read for every student (especially those struggling under VTU ). So go and get your copy right now and get rid of the Anu Aunty in your life!

I had picked this book just based on its cover ...

I had picked this book just based on its cover & title. I am a big buff of entrepreneurial stuff & so I read a lot of books around that topic but this book will be sort of a blueprint for me if I ever start something. This book is written differently, the story does not have a proper flow to it but the author who is also the founder of three companies now, has written it with his heart. Once you read the first page, you will realize that he did not employ any writers to write it for him. It has a Chetan Bhagat kind of quality when it comes to the flow & simplicity. Most importantly the thing that hit me with this book was the way the message of “Go, get it” was presented in the book. After all how often do we hear of 23 yrs old starting a million dollar company in India? Also this guy is a huge fan of someone I idolize …. Steve Jobs !!

About the Author
Michael D’Alessio earned his B.S. in Biology from Seton Hall University and his M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 2004, he earned his Executive Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University.

Mr. D’Alessio has had an extensive career teaching all levels of mathematics and science, including AP® statistics, chemistry, biology, physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. In 2003, Mr. D’Alessio received the Governor’s Teacher of the Year recognition for Watchung Hills Regional High School. In 2004, Mr. D’Alessio received a Certificate of Recognition of Excellence in Science Teaching from Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society of Rutgers University and in 2005, he was voted National Honor Society Teacher of the Year by the students of Watchung Hills.

Currently, Mr. D’Alessio serves as the Supervisor of the Mathematics and Business Department at Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, New Jersey, overseeing 30 teachers.

Exactly what I needed

I had my AP Statistics Exam today and I received the book on Monday.
By-Far the best cram book you could imagine. Everything in it is broken down into simple language, is readable and easily able to be written in and noted on, and has good examples of the various concepts of Statistics. Wish it had more sample problems for people to try but if you use the online source code that comes with the copy you will do well. Definitely a good study tool

Great study guide, but many typos

As usual, REA made a fantastic guide for crash cramming for the AP exam, however, there were a couple of typos (that were just annoying), and some parts weren't described very clearly. Overall, it's a fantastic book to use for studying for the AP exam only a few nights before.

Best GED Prep Book Around!

I got this book for my nephew who opted to take this test versus finishing his senior year of high school. He asked for my help with the math, but having been out of school for several years and not knowing specifically what type of math is on this test, I hoped to find a book with some specifics. I reviewed every section of this book and I was impressed with how well it organized the information and provided examples. I was grateful to receive this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
To start, this book has an excellent introduction. It explains what the GED test is, how the test is administered, what all the sections/topics are, how many questions are in each section and how much time is allotted for each section. They also explain how the test is scored. The Sections are as follows: Math, Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The last section of this book includes Practice tests for each section and answer keys; an added plus.
Each section is broken down into sub-sections sand those sections are broken down even further. Each sub-section includes plenty of examples to understand the subject matter. I highly recommend this book for anyone tackling this test. I don’t think there is another book around that could present this information in a better format.

I wasn't sure about this study guide because it was really cheap. However, this book was really helpful. It covers all the core subjects and is really clearly laid out. Also has lots of practice. I'm taking the GED next month and I believe I will pass it thanks to this book.

I will admit that I am not actually planning on taking this test myself, rather I picked this up as a form of self education and entertainment for the many road trips and long distance drives my family takes. Yeah, I call test taking FUN and entertaining haha :) that said, about the study guide...

It has a nice and easy layout with all of the core subjects covered that you would expect to find on the official GED test. Language arts, math, science and social studies. This is a fantastic overview of what to expect as well as a nice refresher if you're like me and looking to pass some time without a screen!

I tried to provide as many photos of the details as I could because honestly when I look at reviews I first go to the photos to see the real life image of the item as I have found sometimes the stock photos can misrepresent what you're buying.

A great textbook for DEA

I have several books on DEA. This is the best text book for DEA. The models are well explained and I was able to learn the basic DEA models and their advances by myself. The spreadsheet modeling part is also very useful -- I can build and solve the models. If you are new to DEA, this is definitely the book you want to have.

This timely book both world experts in the field of DEA examines the latest and up to date techniques in this area in terms of measuring productivity. This book should be on the bookshelves of everyone in a position to examine the productivity of their organizations especially in today's environment.

Useful, but contains many typos

The book is useful for explaining how to enter models into Excel's Solver. Although apparently easy for non-mathematicians, it omits explanations of many terms (e.g. "the non-Archimedian e" on page 61). Several errors (typos) in the text and formulas made me wonder if they were in a rush to get this printed (e.g. the two last lines on page 53, the random "Mitsubishi" on page 41, the formulas for cell D22 on pages 41 and 65, and several others). The link they provide to the book's Excel files is a bad link.

About the Author

Brian Rowe is considered the father of centerless grinding in addition to other notable research on grinding that includes thermal aspects, dynamic aspects, and fluid-film bearings. He established a laboratory and school dedicated to manufacturing processes at Liverpool John Moores University and is an Emeritus Professor.

Ichiro Inasaki is the dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology at Keio University, Japan. He has developed a laboratory with outstanding research activities and his "intelligent grinding wheel" is featured in the Noritake Museum and represents one of his best accomplishments and contributions. He led CIRP in 2004/2005 as the president and was granted several awards.

Eckart Uhlmann is professor and director of the Institute for Machine-Tools and Management at Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Dr. Uhlmann received this chaired professorship after a very successful industrial career with Hermes Abrasive in Germany. As the head of his institute he holds the leading position in research on all aspects of abrasive machining with grinding wheels.

Dr. Mike Hitchiner is manager of precision technology at Saint Gobain Abrasives (Norton), the largest grinding wheel company in the world. Mike has devoted all his life to research, development and practical application of grinding processes. He started this activity during his D Phil at the University of Oxford in England, and was later considered "Mr. CBN Grinding" by the precision grinding industry. Today he focuses on working with machine tool builders and developing new grinding processes. He has brought an important industrial perspective to this book, as well as hundreds of applications.

About the Author
Karl Polanyi (1886-1964) is considered one of the twentieth century's most discerning economic historians. He left his position as senior editor of Vienna's leading financial and economic weekly in 1933, became a British citizen, taught adult extension programs for Oxford and London Universities, and held visiting chairs at Bennington College and Columbia University. He is co-author of Christianity and the Social Revolution; author of The Great Transformation; Trade and Market in Early Empires (with C.Arnsberg and H.Pearson) and posthumously, Dahomey and the Slave Trade (with A.Rotstein).

Joseph E. Stiglitz was formerly chair of President Clinton's Council of Economic Advisors, and chief economist of the World Bank. He is professor of economics at Stanford University, and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Fred Block is professor of sociology at the University of California, Davis.

A review of Karl Polanyi’s The Great Transformation: the political and economic origins of our time, by Jerry Woolpy
Polanyi writes about the industrialization of Europe leading to the collapse of civilization in the 19th century. The balance of powers failed to prevent a war between the great powers, the gold standard failed to maintain the world economies, the markets failed to self-regulate, and liberal states became internally conflicted. He traces the history of the practice of these four doctrines. I was particularly interested in the history of dealing with unemployment, wages, and poverty, which no country has been able to manage in ways that do not end up exploiting the least able and least enfranchised. Polanyi shows that when economies are controlled objectively, without due concern for the welfare of all, they end up favoring the wealthy and ignoring the poor. We have to recognize that economics is part of the social sciences that are invariably linked such that when we manipulate the economy we change the society. Ignoring this linkage violates the promise of freedom, which is the be-all of liberal democracy. This is a classic that seems to have been overlooked by too many of our modern leaders and their advisors.

POLYANI IS WRITING ABOUT REAGANOMICS IN 1940!

Of course back then, he was calling it liberal economics. But this was well before Milton Freidman.

This book is absolutely required reading if you{re interested in the fallacy of the free market, the role that international trade plays in creating homeless people, or the growth and decay of empires. Polyani is a precient polymath, and this is one of the greatest non fiction books the 20th Century.Absolutely required reading in governmental studies, economics, and history

About the Author
Kathleen M. Galotti holds a B.A. in psychology and economics from Wellesley College, as well as an M.A. and a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.S.E. in computer and information sciences from the University of Pennsylvania. At Carleton College she holds the title Professor and Director of Cognitive Science, an interdisciplinary program, which she helped establish in 1989. She also is a former department chair of Psychology. She teaches courses in cognitive and developmental psychology and cognitive science, and has also taught courses in statistics and introductory psychology. Dr. Galotti is the author or coauthor of dozens of peer-reviewed studies in cognitive and developmental psychology. Her research centers on the development of reasoning and decision-making skills from the preschool period through adulthood and on the styles with which adolescents and adults plan for the future, make important life commitments, and learn new information. Her research has been funded through the National Science Foundation, the Spencer Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. She is the author of Making Decisions That Matter: How People Face Important Life Choices (Erlbaum, 2002), as well as a textbook, Cognitive Development: Infancy Through Adolescence (SAGE, 2011).

DO NOT RENT

Ebook is horrible. It doesn't let you copy any of the text in case you want to quote the text in a paper. Doesn't allow any right clicks which includes using search. I could go on all day about the problems this ebook has, but basically I'm just saying DO NOT RENT OR BUY THIS EBOOK.

If you are thinking about renting a this book from amazon, I strongly advise against it. I rented a hard book copy of this book from amazon as well. It was falling apart. The binding was torn. The pages were torn and every page had tons of writing all over it. Basically the book was unusable. If this is the type of book you would like then rent it from amazon.
